Exploring Our Material World

Hi Everyone,

Below are links to two games that our students can play to help reinforce their understanding of materials and their properties.  This term in science we are building our base knowledge of what objects around us are made of and why they are made of that material.  For example, the children all agreed that if everything was made of paper we wouldn’t be very happy because if it rained everything would be fall apart or be ‘smooshed’.

Enjoy!

Monarch Butterfly

Hi Families,
Last Thursday we had a special delivery. We recieved two chrysallis or pupae’s and were very excited because we knew that any day a butterfly would emerge. We were surprised to find Friday morning that they had hatched over night. The beautiful Monarch Butterflies were fluttering inside their butterfly house. We released the butterflies into the Prep playground that afternoon after looking at their amazing wings. Below is a clip that requires adults to describe what is happening, depicting the life cycle of the Monarch Butterfly.
