Parent Workshops

Hi All,

Tomorrow and Thursday our Literacy Coach, Mrs Kylie Gummow is holding some Parent Workshops that you should all try to come to.  Tuesday’s session is about helping your child learn to read.  Thursday’s session is about our handwriting program, Casey the Caterpillar.  Children, toddlers, babies are all welcome too and if they are too distracting for you they can come and visit us in the classroom while you attend the session.  Both sessions begin at 8:45am.  See you there!

Thanks Miss Richards

***Update**** If you would like to attend a session in on these topics in the future contact me with a suggested time /day and we can organise another session.

Every Day Counts

There are nine learning days left until the school holidays. The catch phrase you see, ‘everyday counts’, is so true and it is important that your child comes to school every day. If your child is unwell please don’t send them to school, instead talk with me about either catching up at home or staying after school one day once they are back and we can go through what has been missed. Lets have a happy and healthy last two weeks!

Cheers

Miss Richards

Families that have visited the classroom recently may have noticed all the coat hangers outside our room and they have lots of different craft materials attached.  These are our wind ornaments. The children had to design an ornament that was wind and waterproof using the craft materials that we had. Some very creative pieces were made. Wind ornaments

starfall.com

Hi Families,

Have you taken your child online to starfall.com yet?  It is a great website for all Primary aged children.  Lots to do and lots of fun!  Rainy days like we’ve had make the perfect opportunity if you have access to the internet and a computer or tablet.

See you all soon,

Miss Richards

Life Education Van Visit

Evening Everyone,

Our class will be visiting the Life Education Van next Tuesday.  That means that your child’s permission note and $6 must be returned by that same day, Tuesday 10th June otherwise your child will not be attending. Most adults would have had a visit from Harold the Giraffe while they were at school.  Unfortunately we don’t get to see him as often as we used to meaning that this opportunity should not be missed.  For more information about the Life Education Program please visit  http://www.lifeeducation.org.au/  It would be ideal if all students attended this excellent event.

Thank you,

Miss Richards

Nursery Rhymes

Nursery rhymes are so important today, just as they were when we were children. Please have your child view these clips for the following reasons:
1. Enjoyment – children love nursery rhymes, even todays kids.
2. Help them practise and learn about rhyme.
3. Help them practise and learn about onset and rime.
4. Help them practise and learn about rhythm and fluency when reading.
